  • If there was no internet...

...what would you be doing right now?

I would be studying for my exam on monday.

If there was no net I would probably still be more involved with sports, my reading level would be much higher, and my room would be a few degrees cooler because I wouldn't have this overclocked prescott heating my room (watercooled with an external unit, so it heats the room while keeping everything in the case cooler - CPU runs at about 40C - pretty damn good for what it is). And another thing - I probably wouldn't be enough of a geek to watercool my damn PC!

Where would you all be without the net?

    Sleeping.

But on the whole: Better off, I think. Much less (mostly useless) knowledge, much less music and other media, much more time - and probably better spent.

Either sleeping, eating, NG:Black Master Ninja Level, Dead or Alive XYZ (exchange for 3, Ultimate 1+2, XBV, or 4), reading books (trying to obtain Master level in Fortune Telling, etc, only have "Knight" level at the moment.) Might even be tempted to give some friends a call.

Sitting in the hall getting myself drunk. Not that I'm not doing something like that now, but just a little (only 1L of 15% beer...)

Know how to make population drop in the third world? Give them computers so they all turn into fat geeks that whack off to internet porn instead of having children with real women.

In a roundabout way I wouldn't be heading to Japan next week and I certainly wouldn't have had the (pleasure?) to sleep 2 inches from our resident hairy myth

I'd probably spend more time with my family and doing hobbies I enjoy, as well as reading a whole lot more. Lots more things I imagine.

If we continued down this path and eliminated the personal computer I'd likely have even more free time... and a tan.

Isn't it amazing? We all say we would probably be better off personally without the internet, yet we log on every day.

Well I wouldn't be posting on a thread discussing what I would be doing if there was no internet As to what I would be doing I don't know, maybe I can find the answer on Google
When you own your own business you only have to work half a day. You can do anything you want with the other twelve hours.

Euhm... be bored in the living room?

Seriously: at home, I don't have internet (apart from gprs access, which I only use for mail). In a way, I like it this way (I have proper access at my office), allthought most likely when I move I'll get some broadband connection. (too much of a geek not to have it , for now, the gprs was actually my cheapest alternative: I have no landline, and the subscription is cheaper than any broadband subscription)

                        I don't think I'd be better off.

I'd be spending hundreds of more hours programming "proverbial wheels" and reading APIs out of books.

I would've never heard two of my now favorite bands.

And most importantly I would've never read the science report about monkeys choosing monkey pr0n over fruit juice.

Well, when I didn't have the internet I was either at home wondering what to do or at a buddies place wondering what to do.

Over the last few months I've been spending way less time on the internet and I'm loving it. I definitely have to learn to balance things out more. I've been spending more time with my family, doing more things around the house that needs to get done, getting out more often, and just basically enjoying my life more. I definitely need to curb my internet/computer use. Hopefully I can keep this up. I've also noticed Jammrock has been catching back up to me in posts, that is how I know I've spent less time on here
Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.
