I first read his "Solaris" shortly after its translation in the 70's and have loved it ever since. Nothing disappointed me more than the abominable version of it made in 2002 by Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney. Horrid. Tarkovsky's 1972 version, Solyaris (Russia), was much better.
