It's a pretty common term. I've heard it all over the country. The best example is girls I know saying that they go commando when wearing white pants, to avoid the lines.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I thought the best example was that one Friends episode.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

Ditto, I loved the 80's too, and regarding Commando... at the time it was a great movie
I bought the DVD and every now and then I watch it and actually enjoy it

Movies I can recall from the 80's...

        Rambo, First Blood
        Rambo II
        Commando
        Predator
        Top Gun
        and so on

        Cheers,

I think it's a word known mostly to us in the low-30s age.

One of my favorite 80's movies: Manhunter (1986)

Director: Michael Mann & starring William L. Peterson of CSI as the FBI manhunter, Tom Noonan as Francis Dolarhyde (creepy!!) and Joan Allen as Reba McClane.

It's the first film version of the Thomas Harris novel "Red Dragon", and to my thinking far superior to the 2002 remake directed by Brett Ratner & starring Edward Norton, Ralph Fiennes and Emily Watson in the same roles.

IMO Noonans Francis Dolarhyde was a much better performance than R. Fiennes and Wm. Peterson takes Edward Norton to school in his portrayal of the manhunter. Joan Allen, as always, is perfect as Dolarhydes blind co-worker/"girlfriend" & later almost victim.

I own Manhunter as well - the climax is absolutley wild!

Yeah, when I think of a "man's man movie" I think of Rambo or Predator

Takes a helicoptor out with a rock, 'nough said.

Stupid action movies from the 80s make up a significant minority of our DVD collection. For a nearly toxic dose of the 80s, try Tango and Cash.
