  • News of my health

A number of you expressed good wishes about my problem. I was prodded and poked and otherwise tortured for ½ this morning and the surgeon decided that the swelling and discomfort were not due to adhesions from the inguinal hernia operation nor from a femoral hernia, as had been supposed. Instead, by tracing the linear path of the tenderness, he found that it was a tendonitis, which is a relief, as it means no surgery. He hypothesised that it may have flared up partially because I had a severe attack of lumbago lasting about 10 days, for which I took Tolperison (Mydoflex), an anti-inflammatory for muscular pain. When it eased up, I stopped the drug, which may have been holding the inflammation of the tendon at bay, almost unnoticed. He told me to go back on Tolperison, which I did after lunch. It has eased the pain somewhat, so I now have to take it until the inflammation goes down completely and then to slowly wean myself off it. Fortunately, it has had no side-effects on me.

In the meanwhile, my left groin would be a surrealist's delight with pretty coloured skin markers tracing the exact whereabouts of the various organs. No, I'm not going to photograph it!

One always suspects the worst, but then it's a wonderful feeling when you find out it's not. Hope you remain well and feel the part as well.
