Yet another reason to NOT buy D-link routers
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

He should make a few hundred thousand clueless users update their routers and get over it?

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

About the few hundred admins that legitimately use his NTP server.

Well, yes...so why not simply change IP adress of NTP server for "few hundred admins"?

Not IP address, DNS name. But essentially, yes. Though I think this is more about principles, and I have to agree D-Link made a mistake when they added his server into their serverlists.

Exactly Az. But, he should be pragmatic and get on with it.

Yes, he should, and yes, D-Link should apologize, change their firmware, and cover his expenses.

First, I don't see why he should. It might make his life easier, but there is no reason why he should. Second, even if he did, what incentive would that give to D-Link to change anything, except for changing their server list to include the new name?

See, that's why you're so crabby

He should, to make his life easier - optimally after D-Link did what they should (see previous post).
