we might fight like siblings, but as keven's recent thread shows, we are a family.
we might not be the biggest forum on the net, we might not be the most active.
but dammit, I swear we are the most supportive tech based forum I know of.

apart from the occasional wise ass joke *which being an ozzy if you didn't produce i would be dissapointed* when push comes to shove, we support each other.

being admin now, I don't always get to say what I feel. hell there are times I consider making another login that you all know about, so you can tell the difference in modes.

but right now, as Danny, and as admin, I am proud to say I am a part of murc. we take care of our own. that is much more then can be said for most places on the net.

I am sorry due to work, that I am not able to do as much as I should around the traps...
right now, I face a similar situation as to what made Ant depart from us...
unlike Ant, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, Ant had multiple issues that I will not disucess here that caused him grief.
So hang in there, and if any of you have any ideas regarding growing, or evolving murc to revitalize the community and to bring in new blood that matches our quirks, please either tell me publicaly, via PM or dan at sasqs dot com

*sniff* ya all make me proud.

Why not? It'll benefit both you and us

On the run now, maybe something more productive later.

as to ideas... I will get back to you on that.

Personally, I think you should be able to say what's on your mind admin or not.

Dan, I made my family comment in the other thread before seeing this. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. I've lost track of the times people I've met here have been there for me and listened when I needed to talk, and slapped me upside the head when I needed it. I'd like to think I've returned the favor a time or two as well.

I might not post as much as the others but I've always tended to listen more than I talk if I can help it (shush you IM friends :P), but I always know my thoughts will be taken with the same grain as anyone elses here and that means a lot.

Say what you need to but that different account isn't necessarily a bad idea.

A different account is a silly idea. Imagine if in real life you were some oddball who had to wear a hand puppet all the time to say the things you yourself were somehow unable to say. That's pretty much the same thing. We all would know it was you, but it would be overlaid with this unnecessary layer of weirdness. Just be a normal person (it would help if you let yourself forget you are the admin, unless there were some extreme reason to be such.)

              There you go.
              Just be yourself.
You seem to be doing just fine to me without the artificial persona.

There's a reason why I'm still on here after nearly 8 years now... wow. How many other things have I done nearly daily for such a long period of time?

One things that worries me. Is MURC too much for Dan to handle on top of everything he has to deal with already? Maybe the load should be shared?

Anyways, MURC really is a big family. I often feel more comfortable talking about things here than I do with my own family and friends. Almost everyone here is level headed, and sometimes I don't realize that that's what I need. Glad MURC is here, that's for sure.

Murc has been part of my life for the past few years now, with visits almost daily.
It's one of the few forums where you can post something without someone flaming or belittleing you. It speaks as to the maturity of the members here.
We all joke around every so often, and most members see it as just that, and any serious threads are always treated as such.
Dan, any thing we can do to help in any way to your situation, please let us know.
Yeah, well I'm gonna build my own lunar space lander! With blackjack aaaaannd Hookers! Actually, forget the space lander, and the blackjack. Ahhhh forget the whole thing!

I would volunteer to do moderate moderating (i. e. moving threads, deleting obvious flamebait/bots, and generally acting out what the community and/or members want) in almost all forums (except alternative lifestyles and video). I would use a different account for this, because I have an opinion on many things, and because the moderator part should be as neutral as possible. Unfortunately, that's about all I can offer to help the MURC and Dan.

lets just say I have spent all of the weekend so far doing data transformations.
when done with booze, one can almost convince oneself they are fun

As your all a pretty good bunch, murc more or less ticks over by itself. I would like to do more to attract new members (ones that sorta fit in around here, don't feel the need for what some boards turn into) but I honestly don't have the time required to get out there and do things.

There was an ex mod here who did that

I think people still view the site as being primarily a Matrox site and that keeps them away

Not really, A don't have a Matrox product, yet I've been watching this Forum (Desktop Video at first, then I wondered around to the Lounge) for a good few years now.
