I like a lot of Cruse's films, Last Samuri, Vanilla Sky to name two but I wouldn't off included him in my list...I agree with 2 & 4 but not in that order.

I personally rate Christian Bale, Sean Penn & Kevin Spacey above Cruse but none are top 5.

Ed Norton. I would rate him far better than Tom Cruise.

Even Brad Pitt is better than Cruise. His performance in 12 Monkeys was amazing. Ed Norton and Kevin Spacey are also right up there. Cruise has had some decent performances (Samurai was very good), but I certainly wouldn't consider him the best in any category...

Speaking of acting retarted, what about Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man? wasn't he nominated for that performance?
Ironically Tom Cruse was in it, but Dustin was the star IMHO.

The absolutely unnecessary sequence in the beginning after the first attack put me off: All electronic devices fail, but the digital video camera that falls to the ground still works, and the movie camera even zooms onto its screen. Why?

                        That made me shudder too.

I always liked Val Kilmer. his portrayal of Doc. Holiday in Tombstone was top notch!
