methinks an upgrade is in order

so i'm pretty sure that i'm going to upgrade the video card on my shuttle xpc.

i just have to figure out if either the new 7800GS or x1600 Pro cards will work in my xpc.

i've emailed BFG to see if they know and posted a thread at hexus.net. i haven't bothered emailing ati because their support is worst than useless; it's often wrong about stuff like this.

anyway, if anyone hears anything, let me know.

i plan to offer up my current card, an ati 9800 pro agp, to the highest bidder and give the proceeds to the server fund.

Ive got an ATI x1600 in my machine. It works pretty darn good.

My use is usually presentations, and its nice having it adapt to different projectors with no fuss at all.
So good driver implementation, if nothing else.

yeah, i'm sure that the card is a dandy. i just don't know if it will work in my xpc. it may be too long, or it may be too demanding on the psu.

i was hoping that this upgrade would last me for a year when i plan to buy two new high end dev systems, one for work and one for home. i want to wait and see who's winning the multicore cpu wars.

i just had a thought... i eventually want to turn this xpc into an htpc and even though hdcp is supported in the gpu's, no card currently available has it implemented yet.

hmm... i'm going to have to think about this a little more.

i might have to wait on this upgrade.
