If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.
Jeremy Clarkson "806 brake horsepower..and that on that limp wrist faerie liquid the Americans call petrol, if you run it on the more explosive jungle juice we have in Europe you'd be getting 850 brake horsepower..."
I don't think anyone will ever approach the perfection that was Christopher Reeve in this role. He was as perfect as Superman as John Wayne was as a cowboy.
IMO a transition will be necessary.....just as my generation had to do from George Reeves to Christopher Reeve. 'Tis the nature of iconic characters over time. People had doubts about Michael Keaton and Christian Bale as Batman too....
Bale did have two legs up on other contenders;
1. his performance in Equilibrium had several "Batman-esque" aspects, including looking great in black and being coldblooded in battle. My thought after the 1st fight scene was "wow....this guy would make a great Batman", and the rest of the film confirmed that impression.
2. he had previously auditioned for Robin/Dick Grayson in Batman Forever.
