Quite a few people can crash their car without being dead drunk...you're a Republican/right wing supporter and YOU are talking about coverups? Both sides have been rolling in the mud for long enough...honestly, Doc, all due respect to many areas of your life, but when it comes to your political views, you sound like you could have easily been pointing a high-power sniper rifle in Dallas just because them Democrats are baaad (according to ze propaganda at your previous evening's party meeting)

Update: he now admits to being on "mediations" for a stomach problem, one of which was Ambien....a sleeping pill....and the other Phenergan. I've taken Ambien before and its strong stuff. Phenergan too can put you out.
WTF is he doing taking either while driving? Guess he inherited his dads good judgement & driving skills

Further update confirming my suspicions; waitress at the Hawk & Dove, a watering hole frequented by Capitol Hill types, confirms he was drinking that night.
Drugs + alcohol means he was lucky not to kill himself, or worse yet some innocent person.

Its a Kennedy, what do you expect? The cover up started the second he crashed his car and the local police weren't allowed to perform any sobriety testing. The police were also told to halt the investigation.
If it was a normal person, they would've been arrested and charged with operating to endanger and DWI. What did Kennedy get? A free ride in the cop car back to his house. I suppose its not as bad as Teddy from my lovely state of MA though... he got away with killing that girl in the accident.Comment

The story took major turns;
1. he's checking into rehab at the Mayo clinic.
2. he says he dosn't remember that night (but he remembered it yesterday
)
3. he's bipolar
4. he's been addicted to painkillers and just got out of rehab for that after Easter
5. given his history WTF was his "doctor" doing prescribing Phenergan, an opiate, and Ambien, which is similar to Valium, on top of his psychiatric meds
6. what the HELL were the cops thinking when they didn't give him a breathalyzer & take him to jail?? Some disciplinary action is in order IMO.
Even Bob Beckel, a major Democrat, says he should have been ushered to the drunk tank....and given that Beckek's a recovering alcoholic himself and leader of a Capitol Hill recovery group, I'll defer to his judgement.
EDIT: fresh report is that the police watch commander has been "reassigned"....
