You know, I actually like Will Smith. He may play the same sort of character, in terms of expression, but he's fun to watch.

I preferred the '64 movie with Price to the one Heston starred in, but even the latter was good for this brand of movie. Should be easy for them to do right by it. Sadly, I've never actually read the novel, so I may be missing out on some of the finer points.

I have read the novel and "The Last Man On Earth" follows it quite a bit more closely than "The Omega Man" did. But then that's expected for a Hollywood treatment.

IIRC "The Last Man On Earth" was an Italian production, script co-written by novelist Richard Matheson.

Unfortunately I can see them doing the same to this that they did to "I, Robot."

Oh I highly doubt they won't, but that film was still enjoyable by its own merits. That's the problem with Hollywood movies and I've learned to completely put the source material out of my mind else I'd never truly enjoy any of the films that stem from them.

I mean the Jurassic Park movies are a pale comparison to the books and even when they attempted to rectify the kiddie nature of the films in comparison to the horrific 'sights' of the books, they fell short (re JP3).

        We shall see.
