  • "A Scanner Darkly" reviewed....

    While TV movie whores Siskel & Roeper gave this rendering of P.K. Dicks novel most reviews look like that by The Hollywood Reporter;
    Scene after scene of verbose fiddle-faddle: Characters orate at each other, while sitting in cars, sitting at dining tables, sitting in living rooms, sitting at office desks. The film might be better titled The Big Sit.

    or Cinema Signals;
    Besides the fascinating visuals, this is not just scanning darkly, it's close to opaque.

    Sounds a lot like like Linklater's other film "Waking Life", which bored me to tears

    Hmm I wonder how much this was changed from early cuts that didn't get audience approval. Hard to tell, but these alterations often dilute a difficult story, which I don't like

      If you've ever read the book, the movie sounds spot on with it. It's pretty much a huge social commentary about drugs and government.
