I was j/k about the German part,
but on busy one lane roads, you will need all the power you can get to overtake a slower vehicle without ending up on the grill of an on-coming transport
And if you ever plan on towing anything heavy, a large V8 is the only option - there is no replacement for displacement
Yeah, well I'm gonna build my own lunar space lander! With blackjack aaaaannd Hookers! Actually, forget the space lander, and the blackjack. Ahhhh forget the whole thing!

I totally and 101% fully agree with you GT40!
BMW 4.4L V8s.....oh what an utopia of an engine!
My Peugeot 406 2.1 TD doesen't really cut it with the overtaking, the half second turbo lag is annoying. Only pulls between 1800 and 3200 rpm. But Should do over 200k hopefully since 98 has done 140k.

Production of the two-mode transmission will begin at GM’s Baltimore, MD, Powertrain division plant beginning early next year as part of a $118-million investment in the facility. The transmissions will be sold to DaimlerChrysler for installation in the next-generation Dodge Durango SUV, while BMW and Mercedes will use the transmissions in various future passenger car and SUV applications.
