Which one is that? What other features does it have? What PalmOS is it?
Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

      Can it wash my dishes?

No, seriously, I've heard good things about the TX model. Been tempted to invest in new Palm device, but I'm not sure it's entirely needed. Loved my older Palm m105, but it's long since outlived its usefulness.

Palm is the best small phone for minimalists, athletes, and families. Your entire digital life now fits in a coin pocket. Perfect for taking a break from your big phone.

So far only Palm smartphones use MS WM5. I don't know that their alliance with MS has reached, or will reach, the PDA-only Palm devices.

              Congrats on the purchase!

But why oh why did you have to do that to the poor case?? Couldn't you have gotten one with a headphone hole and just open it if you want to pause stuff?

well I did try that aproach and it don't work, people get annoyed with me when I have to fish out the tx crack open the case and push the pause button
this way I just have to put my hand down into the pocket and press the button.
Pockettunes, (the mp3 player) is linked to one of the mechanical buttons so I can start and stop mp3 playing without having to constantly pulling the tx out of my pocket

Hardcases are just for making sure that the pda screen don't get crushed in your pocket, they wont save the pda if it is dropped (that happened to my old T|E2 and that hard case even had a thick neoprene padding, the official palm one is just metal and hard plastic on the inside), the case still protects the tx from crush death, it isnt pretty but its functional

besides aftermarket cases often has holes for; power button, pen silo, irda, sd slot(my T|E once launched its sd card out of the convenient hole in it's hardcase ), charger and sync connectors and....the hard buttons.

and lastly since I'm using my pda daily as MP3 player while taking the bicycle to work I didnt have an unlimited amount of time, the mods on the case was done in less than an hour, if I had had the luxury of spending several hours on it would have looked nicer

Might be the right thread to post an inquiry... I'm also thinking about getting a PDA, but I would like it to double as removable storage. I know Palm has the LiveDrive - which has 4 GB, Archos has the PMA 400 - which has 30 GB, but are there others?

I would like it to have the normal PDA functionality (mail, web, contacts, agenda), wifi & bluetooth, media playback (mp3 / video (+ dvd from images?)) and video out. Video input would be extremely nice (like the PMA400 has).

                      Any other suggestions?

As much as I love palm devices I can't with a clear concience say anything else than to avoid it.
It suffers from severe "wait for hdd to spinn upp" syndrome

The archos unit looks nice, sad that they wont fess up to what cpu powers it (I'll guess an Intel xscale ).

Since its Linux based it should be no problem finding a nice PIM suite for it

I havent heard that any "traditional" PDA's have either video in or out

Yes, it runs Qtopia, so basic PIM is included. But one hears so little of this device, so it might be better at playing back media than at PDA-behaviour. Finding additional software is not straight forward, yet when I look at what I'm running (and using) on just my phone, I fear it might be too limited for me as a platform.

                          Me neither...
