At least that way you'll get on TV.
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

That's fuel-efficient? Even if you convert that to real Imperial gallons its only 30mpg. Fuel efficient here is double that. Admittedly 0-60 is measured in minutes though

Exactly what I was thinking Tony... when I had my old Fiat Panda, built around 15-20 years ago, I could easily get 60mpg (in UK terms - so about 50mpg in US terms) driving back and forth between Oxford and High Wycombe every day. It could do 100mph too, so plenty of pull still at the speed limit... (regularly used to bomb down the fast lane overtaking porsches etc) This is a cheapo car from DECADES ago!

Only time it ever let me down was for 5 minutes just outside Aberdeen one December when the carburettor froze up. Pulled over and in no time it was fine again

We're talking a police interceptor guys. In Germany & a lot of other places in Europe they use the MB E-Class which costs more up front and gets the same ~25 mpg. France is switching to the Subaru Imprenza WRX, which gets ~24 mpg. BMW's are also common. None of these are econo-boxes.

We're using many different vehicles, mostly VW, Opel, BMW, Mercedes. We have one or two Porsches I think, but they aren't really used - too expensive to operate and too low to the ground.

Hey, I was talking about a panda-car as well

(not sure if that translates beyond the UK - apologies if not )
