52-55bpm Age 29, and I'm relatively unfit at the moment. Always have confounded the doctors and various sports coaches with my resting rate. When was at peak fitness in my late teens/early twenties, resting range used to be 30-40bpm. Sometimes under 30. That was before I started smoking way too much and got fat though...

Even when I was fit and could run 10 miles without feeling like I was going to die, my resting heartrate was "too high". I never did get the "President's Physical Fitness Medal" in high school as a result. I was a little bitter at the time, since the doctor swore up and down that I was just fine, perfectly healthy, just had a high resting rate.

Resting rates between 90-100 were pretty normal for me. Blood pressure was always good and low... just have a quick heart. *shrug*

Very variable from 60 to 105, age 74.

However, I wear a pacemaker. Without it, my pulse rate would be very much lower (roughly zero for 98% of the time ). It is set to a fail-safe rate of 45, but I've experienced that only once! And, no matter what I do, I can't get it higher than 165, as it cannot tolerate fibrillation.

At the time of writing this, it's chugging along at a steady 72. BP typically 120-130/65-75 (small chemical aid - without it more like 150-160/95-105)

Mine is very consistent at 62-65 bpm. It's been right there for many years.

                Resting rate 40-50, age 30.
As a consequense of my asthma, it does dare to shoot up (highest recorded was during a physical test: 240, I was 15 at the time).
But it seems to have improved a lot; it's well under control for years now.

Does it mean anything if my heart rate is at 80 and say someone that's older has a lower heart rate? Is my rate normal or am I grossly out of shape?

Not necessarily, but a check-up wouldn't come amiss. Many have rest rates up to 80. It depends also on your lung capacity. If it's poor in relation to your size and weight, then it is normal to have a somewhat higher rate, so that enough oxygen is transported to where it's needed. Heavy smokers and caffeine drinkers tend to develop higher base rates.

I was asthmatic when I was very young but not anymore. Either way, my heart rate has always been around 80.
