  • We're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave...

    ...to quote the song.

Note that this is weather, not climate, so please don't start a rant about climate change

Incidentally the temp here is seasonal or maybe very slightly under, in the mid-30s max, ~20° min, but the humidity has been higher than usual for the past week or so (30-50% RH during the day, usually <10-20%), so it is less comfortable than I would expect for the latter half of July.

Typical humid east-Michigan summer here. That's what we get for being on the east side of the state. The west side is usually cooler because of the lake breezes. Other than occaisional rain due to the humidity it's otherwise been nice. Not too many storms that would produce mammatus clouds, so no chance for cool pictures, yet.

Heatwave here also... Some parts of the country have had over 25°C for almost 30 consequetive days, many of those theys even reaching 30-35°C.
Hottest recorded temperature was 37.8°C (in Kleine Brogel, an air force base), in Ghent (where I was) it reached 37.6°C. It is the second heatwave of this year (which is quite rare).
Esp. last week it was terrible: many problems on roads (asfalt rising, tram tracks rising, bridges need constant cooling, electricity cables for trains have broken, ... In the court in Brugge, for the first time, it was permitted not to wear the toga because of the heat.

This past week we have average high temperatures of 40.5°C with a 'feels like' of 45.5°C. Not sure what the humidity was, but anywhere between 40-80% isn't abnormal (varies during the day obviously). Things are starting to cool off a little, but the predicted humidity for tomorrow around noon is 41%.

Same scenario as VJ explained, but I’m living in the region of Kleine Brogel currently 30°C (13h38 atm) but luckily it started raining 30 minutes ago, first time since weeks.

High today is supposed to be ~79 °F (26 °C), but the humidity dropped to zip & there's a nice breeze.

I was in SE Spain for 10 days up to Thursday. I don't have any exact temps but it was damn hot! Certainly >>30C. So hot we couldn't do anything in the afternoons. No point in even trying to sleep before about 1am. 'twas a necessarily lazy holiday. Good thing we have a pool and the sea is only 5 mins walk away

My weather station has a hardware prob just now, but it looks like it's going up to ~39°C today, which is seasonally slightly on the low side of normal. I would expect 40-41°C.
