Sad news. Really did seem to be a genuinely good guy.

Our kids loved watching him, so it was an odd conversation when we told them that he died. And yes, our son's first reaction was to inquire whether a crock got him or not. His next was to ponder how an animal he's petted before could do such a thing, after learning what did happen. Which lead into a whole discussion of his on how even dolphins can endanger our (human) lives because they're still wild.

While I can say that he learned alot of that from me, I know that it was more likely driven home by Steve's unique way of doing things that made nature shows exciting again (for kids... and even adults).

He will be missed for his bravery, love of the natural world and for his education of countless people among may other great things.

      To his life!

      P.S.
The news stations in Atlanta should be ashamed of their coverage of the matter. They mentioned the incident indicated towards the bottom of the article about his kid being in his arm while feeding a croc and would not stop talking about it instead of what good he did.

He may be even better known outside of Australia than inside.
He will be missed world wide.

Heard this morning that if his wife/family approve the Australian govt. wants to do a State funeral. Quite an honor....
