If you read up on him, the paintings that are claimed to show his deteriorating mind aren't dated so the sequence is merely people guessing.

Intriguing also how art influenced by such disorders or by drugs are similar to certain fractals (Electric Sheep for example). Together with the thing that practically all, I believe, people like fractals, this can have some implications on models in neuroscience...
