Sad part is, some of the people I know in the North End of Winnipeg (the bad end) have done basically just that (not with a coat hanger albeit, but have done it in ways equally as, well, "brutal")

Why? Is abortion illegal or expensive where you live? Or do you consider a legal, early abortion done by a doctor as equally brutal?

Because they don't want people to know about it, and they figure going to the doctor will get them in trouble, yet everyone ends up knowing about it anyways.

Here, doctors aren't allowed to tell anyone about their patients (with some exceptions, like law enforcement). This definitely goes for sixteen-year-olds as well, and, depending on the circumstances, also for fourteen-year-olds. OK, an abortion costs ~400 EUR, but it's free for the poor. And, of course, you get the pill for free if you're under 20 (or 18?).

You have to understand though, these people aren't very bright (which may coincide with them getting pregnant)
