Of course not. But a well-made replica would move that someone exactly as much, if it's really the art that moves them. Just like a bit-perfect copy of a music track would sound exactly the same and move everybody the same as the original CD.

Which is why no one is interested in owning first editions of books, first pressings of books, first pressings of music or animation cells from movies. I agree with you that for general enjoyment having a high quality copy is more than enough. However, we are human and we like the sense of history that having the original gives us.

Hey, SOME of us like owning first editions of books, but it's not in the budget this month, y'know?

If only life were as easy as you
          I would still get screwed

Then you get my point. If you like owning a first edition of a book then you can understand why some people make it such a big deal to own an original piece of art. When you know you own the only one there is a certain feeling that goes with it. I tend to agree that originals of the greats should be in museums, or at the very least the owners should let them go on tour often. However, often an artist isn't considered big unless he's already sold a lot of his stuff to private collectors.
