  • Weird Al - White, nerdy, and here to stay

IT IS TIME to congratulate the man who once rewrote Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die" as "Chicken Pot Pie." (McCartney, a vegetarian, denied him permission to record the song, on the grounds that it promoted the slaughter of animals.) "Weird Al" Yankovic, satirical pop-goblin and parody merchant, has not simply endured but triumphed: His new album, "Straight Outta Lynwood" (Volcano), shot into the Billboard Top 10 upon its release last month--his highest chart placing since he opened his one-man spoof-factory in the early '80s

I was going to post something - last weekend I was reading the paper and Julie was trying to find Logan something to watch on TV that was not pure trash, and she called to me from the other room. I come in just in time to see VH-1's latest retarded video-monkey say that the number one video of the week was... "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al!

    Wow... just, wow.

I'm the least you could do, oh yeah
If only life were as easy as you
    I would still get screwed

I've been a fan of his since I listened to "Eat it" on an old vinyl single way back in the 80's. I used to listen to Dr. Dimento just to hear the new Wierd Al songs.

          Chicken Pot Pie Lyric:

When we were young, Bernie's Deli was down the block
          (Ooh ooh ooh ooh)
He made a great liver pate
(You know he did, you know he did, you know he did)
But if there's one thing in this world that I like better
Than a corned beef on rye

          It's Chicken Pot Pie
          Chicken Pot Pie

(And his fake rapping isn't bad either.)
FAKE rapping??? I'd say his rap is pretty damned good, considering his material.

Weird Al will go down in history as one of America's greatest satirists.

Margie and I went to his concert at MeadowBrook a few years ago and it was a scream. One of the few artists better live than on TV/CD/DVD

            We'll return to MeadowBrook next week for their stage performance of "Frankenstein";

Honestly "White and Nerdy" gets stuck in my head at least once a week.

That happens when you finally find that song that defines your life, who you are
