Yeah, I'd say that the current, Republican, administration exemplifies that very superior, my god is better than yours attitude.

Actually, I find it rather shocking that any person can buy into the propaganda and drivel coming from either side. It's the same crap we've heard from one party years ago that has simply been recycled for the other party.

In the end, regardless of party, they're all a bunch of a-s-shats that have driven this country into the ground.

Hm, since there is some misconecptions on parts in this discussion so I will try to correct som statements made.

          1. There is very little rejection problems involving brain tissue, due to the BloodBrainbarrier.
          2. Substantia Nigra that is the most commonly affected site in parkinsons, have very specialised neurons, there has been trials in the UK, on patients where deep brainstimulation have failed where they implantet embronic tissue, and though I dont know the whole result of the trial, i have 2 patients that have shown siginficant improvement, and now are able to complex movments like drinking a cup of tea. Without spilling the entire content.
          3. Stem cells from cord, is to specialised to be used in neurological stem cell research, they are already on they develop after the morula stage, so they are not try multipotent stem cells, thereby you will need the cells from neurologic tissue to get lucky.

Michael J. Fox is a Class Act, all the way. I've got nothing but respect for the guy. If left alone, his ad might have aroused in voters some of the ideas Limbaugh brought to the fore, but the way Limbaugh did it, and the rational, gracious, well-spoken way in which MJF responded kind of puts those doubts even more quickly where they out to be in people's minds.. in that class of thoughts we immediately dismiss as utter nonsense.

The only thing Limbaugh has done here is get more votes for Claire McCaskill. He has pretty much discredited himself to many of those who still listen to him. He was way out of hand here, and as lacking in class to the same degree that Michael showed it.

My main objection to Fox is that like many Hollyweirds he's flapping his gums about something he hasn't closely examined.

The main arguement in Missouri is that there is a proposal on their ballot to fund and change the laws about stem cell research. The Dem, Claire McCaskill, is for the proposal and the Republican, Jim Talent, against.

Current law in Missouri forbids human cloning, which for the most part rules out embryonic stem cell research. Nothing unusual here; lots of US States and other countries forbid human cloning. Also not unusual is that proponents are being disingenuous about the wording of the proposal; they swear up and down that it doesn't allow cloning while even a cursory reading says that is not the case.

The biotech firms are itching for it to pass so they can move in without the rules they'd work under in other states.

The big rub is that MJF has never read the Missouri proposal nor considered its implications.

On ABC News "This Week" MJF said this:

Fox: Well, I don’t think that’s true. You know, I campaigned for Claire McCaskill. And so I have to qualify it by saying I’m not qualified to speak on the page-to-page content of the initiative. Although, I am quite sure that I’ll agree with it in spirit, I don’t know, I— On full disclosure, I haven’t read it, and that’s why I didn’t put myself up for it distinctly.
But of course he DID put himself up for it by supporting its strongest political proponent, Claire McCaskill, and of course making that evasively worded spot.

Whether or not you're pro-life or pro-choice; pro-embryonic stem cell research or not this law, and by extension the Senatorial election in Missouri, is about the biotech industry and their power.

MJF should have at least read the proposal before poking his nose into Missouri's affairs.

Don't necessarily disagree there, though he could have gone on and lied, saying he did read it and yadda, yadda.

While given his position he does have more of an obligation to know what he's representing, he's human and just like the rest of tends to jump into things because, on the surface, those things appear to represent ideas/ideals that we agree with or care about.

Funny though, no comment about Rush Limbaugh flapping his gums about something he knows nothing about? He can't even be honest about admitting he was wrong.

And MJF has a point.. those left over embryos are destroyed anyhow. Destroyed. If you believe they are potential humans, they are killed, mudered, executed.. for reasons of economy. And I don't see any laws against that.. do you? At least they could be used for something worthwhile if they were released for research.

btw, where do I stand on pro-life? Abortion is wrong, bad, essentially murder.. especially when, as in 90+% of the cases, it's done for vanity and selfishness, egged on by radical feminists. We are not immortal gods.. our purpose as living beings is to create new life.

IF a girl is underage or drunk and stupidly gets herself knocked up, however, alright.. allow an abortion only within the first 9 weeks. But educate kids about this in Junior High school.
