eh...the book was so so. It got a lot of attention because it was written by a teenager andwas very popular in the YA market and some of the Harry Potter crowd. Which means it also sold very well. The main problem with the book is that there is nothing really original in it. It's collage of ideas from other writers and a rather generic storyline.

***SPOILERS*** ... if this can really be called spoiling anything.

    Boy raised on farm.
Boy discovers he's adopted and really of noble dragonrider lineage.
Boy finds the last dragon egg not controlled by the evil king.
The town drunk/ecentric guy just happens to really be the last dragonrider who can conveniently train the boy.
Boy learns how to ride dragon.
    Evil King learns of boy.
    Boy flees.
    Boy is chased.
    Meets Elf babe.
    Action ensues.
    Elf babe gets captured.
    Boy saves Elf babe.
Danger averted ... until the sequel comes out.

    The End.

Though on a light read scale it was a decent book. Just not for the hardcore fantasy audience.

So when does part 2, Gandolf come out? Then I suppose part 3, Fraudo will be out at a similar interval to round out the trilogy?

That was very close, Kvh Book 2 is called Eldest, and seeing how Gandalf was maia and one of the Eldest it fits well. Good one
