    Hello!

I finding not much time to visit murc these last couple of weeks (months?). Occasionally, I manage to browse a bit, but posting on murc is more difficult.

Reason for this is that I'm working full time on my phd text: I intend to submit the final version in January. To write, I work at home, so the fact that I don't have an internet connection (apart from a limited gprs link) causes my absense.

So far, I'm at 170 pages or so, and my co-promotor has proofread the first two chapters (I just gave him the following 3 chapters). So far, he likes it...
The good news is that the technical/mathematical chapters are now behind me. I now need to write about some application fields, and finish of some extensions. But so far so good, I think I need a couple of weeks to finish everything.

The bad news is that my promotor is also about to start reading. Problem is that she often sees problems where there aren't any (both grammatically - she's not good at English, but still insists on correcting stuff; as technically). To sort of circumvent issues, every technical bit has been published in international journals and/or books. Also, my co-promotor is (luckily) aware of the situation, and ready to help me out.
I'm just a bit nervous for her comments...

But I hope to frequent you guys more often soon...

The only time I get to surf MURC is before bedtime and at work, otherwise I'm hella busy. I have 4 girls after me, including my ex. I can barely keep up with my own life as it is.

Vj: Don:t worry, MURC will still be here. I hope all goes well with your phd.

I know. But she's not after me for a relationship or sex or anything like that luckily. It's just that when I started living my own life I kinda put her aside and was slowly drifting away from her, but apparently she still can't live without me. She still wants me as a friend and she has a hard time spending a week without seeing or talking to me. Go figure.

@cjolley: I wasn't complaining. Although it is quite difficult managing 4 girls.

@VJ: Yeah, like cjolley said, what's it about????

              Oops...
The topic is: Fuzziness and Uncertainty in Geographic Information Systems...

(to summarize: it contains a both theoretically sound and practical models that allow one to model information in a geographic database, when there is uncertainty or imprecission about this data. The models use fuzzy set theory (which allows for a mathematical model of this uncertainty/imprecission), so that the database system is capable of computing with the data)

Potent stuff that catnip. But yeah, one of the girls that's after me (which so happens to be THE only girl that I am after) has a twin sister! Yup, you heard right. Do you speak french though? Cause if you don't then there's no chance.

Anyways, sorry VJ, kinda hijacked your thread there. But I wish you good luck on your thesis. Keep us posted, and like gt40 said, don't let it hinder on your flying time.

The weather is taking care of that...
My last flight was on September 9, but ever since then it has always been something (illness, gusting winds, rain, storm, more wind, ... ).

Well, when the weather is nice in winter, it is *very* nice to fly (much clearer sky, less turbulence, ...). One only has to take into account the icing levels: the wings are not equipped with de-icing systems, but this only puts a limitation on the altitudes you can fly at; the meteo service provides you with the icing level.
Of course, VFR navigation becomes more difficult in a snowy landscape (in the navigation theoretically one tries to recognize the landscape and match it with the map).

I imagined you could but I just wasn't sure about the type of aircraft you use. But either that's great, at least it's somehting you can do all year round.

Do you fly much during the winter?
