The Western Digital MyBooks are nice. I have a 320GB external USB 2.0/Firewire. It runs great on firewire or USB 2.0.

It's so called because that's supposedly the first day of the fiscal year that retailers go from being "in the red" to "in the black". This has to do with the large number of deals that draw consumers into the stores for what becomes one of Holiday shopping season's most profitable days (if not the most).

Xbox 360 Core System - $100

This isn't happening on Black Friday, but it's close and good enough...

If you have an Amazon account you can vote between three items right now, with the winning item being nicely discounted on Thursday, November 23, at 11 a.m. PST. Currently, there is an XBOX 360 Core System that has 84.3% of the votes and will go one sale for $100 (if it wins). There will only be 1,000 units available.

Obviously the Core system is lacking thing like the hard drive and the HD AV cable (as well as other things), but at that price you can grab most of those things and still come in under the Platinum system's price. So, all-in-all, not a bad deal.

Not specific to Black Friday (again), but in the same tradition of getting a good deal, there's a new site called The Bargainist (http://www.bargainist.com/). It lists the latest deals, sales, coupons and freebies floating around; they have some Black Friday ones up.

Well I tried getting the $100 xbox 360 special at Amazon. As far as I'm concerned it was a scam. I actually managed to connect to their website and have the page load up and it was listed as sold out literaly seconds after the sale began.

Yeah, I think the xbox stunt will really backfire on them. I tried to time it and clicked a full minute before the appointed time and by the time I got through they were sold out.
