    this isnt happening...

    ok all of a sudden I lost all connection to the outside world, almost all except murc!!!!
    and I mean everything, including mail. nothing works but forums.murc.ws in any browser I've tryed (or pinging from the cmd) even with firewall and all other protection off!!!

    does anyone have any idea what this might be?

      hmmmm. could be your ISP working on things as we speak.

      If you have a DSL modem or cable etc, reset it and see what happens, though you may loose connectivity entirely.

        cant reset modem.... its not mine. rent a room from an old lady till i can move in my appartment in january. its her modem (wireless modem-router) and i cant reset it because she doesnt remember her password.. and guess what she also wants this fixed by sunday because she does podcasts!!!
        this is like a bad comedy.... :/

          Thats weird.
          Is it on more than one PC, the problem ?

          edit: Oh, and by reset, I think he means pluggin-unplugging it. That won't lose the password, cos thats what happens everytime there's a power cut. If you press and hold the reset button, then only then will you lose the password.

            Time to hard-reset the router?
            Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

              Done! I got the old lady looking everywhere for modem and ISP documentation. It only worked with a hard reset and I had to set it up again... funny thing is when I just took the plug off then it would only load msn.com ?!?!?!

                Glad it worked!

                When things start acting weird, it's always a good idea to hard reset the router or modem.
