Hello!
I just gave the first printout of my phd to the dean of the faculty.
Tomorrow, there is a (monthly) facultyboard on which the board should approve the work, and the date for the exam (for which we proposed Februari 27). On this exam, I should give a 10 minute technical presentation, after which the exam-commity can ask questions. At the exam, the commity can request changes or additions, after which I have up to 30 days to meet their suggestions, get the work printed (as a book, faculty has contracts for this) and prepare a public presentation. This is currently planned for March 30th.
But it is a weird feeling to give that first print to the dean...
I'm happy to have finished the work , but somehow it feels like it signals the end of my student days...
While I would love to take some time of, there is still a stack of exams (from over 100 students) to be verified (by early February) and a paper for a conference that - while accepted, I'm going to Mexico! - still needs a bit of tweaking.
But as soon as the weather is adequate, I'm off to the airport for my first flight of this year!
