    UN's new radiation symbol

Looks more like ceiling fans can send flaming arrows down to kill pirates and people crossing the street

They need to fire whomever does their iconography; that's just horrid.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

Because of things like this. Many people don't have a clue what the regular trefoil means, or even that radiation is bad.

That calls for better education of the public as to the meaning of the symbol. Even then, just the skull and tri-foil would have been far better than the cluttered iconography they went with.

There's such a thing as too much.

              Unfortunately, yes.

You really think anyone has a clue as to why the UN does anything it does, much less this POS?

That doesn't require hope, it requires monastic prayer

The main reason why a change was necessary is that the colour was wrong. Yellow is just a warning colour. Red is a danger colour. From that POV, it is an improvement. I agree the polyiconography is awful. The toxic icon is traditional
whether on a yellow, orange or red background, but I didn't get the reason for the emergency exit symbol. until I read
The new symbol will not be visible under normal use, but only if someone attempts to disassemble a device that is a source of dangerous radiation. It will not be located on building access doors, transportation packages or containers.
IOW, this label is not a general warning label.
