      A Night At The Opera #152 ?

Behind Shania Twain and Kid Rock ????

The only thing worse is that Rolling Stone listed it at #230

There must be some time-based decay formula. There's too much recent crap in the list.

In the case of todays "music" recent and crap are synonyms

            In case anyone is confused...

            http://www.rockhall.com/pressroom/definitive-200 and http://www.definitive200.com/

It's actually easy to see why some albums that were less artistic achievements than others show up - the list was compiled by the National Association of Recording Merchandisers. That should well and truly make it clear that the list is based on the monetary success of the album as well as any other criteria they used. Many of the albums may hold little artistic value to some, but quite a few of them changed both popular music and the genres to which they belonged.

I have a hard time believing that Metallica has Metallica, Justice, Master Of Puppets and Ride the Lightning all on the top 200.

The Black album maybe. As much as I liked the other three on that list, I can't really see them actually making the list.

                black album and maybe puppets

yeah, its definitely still not a "best" or "greatest" list - but calling that a definitive collection isn't any better. In my exerpt I alternated bad/good to really show off how stupid it is.
