It's actually easy to see why some albums that were less artistic achievements than others show up - the list was compiled by the National Association of Recording Merchandisers. That should well and truly make it clear that the list is based on the monetary success of the album as well as any other criteria they used. Many of the albums may hold little artistic value to some, but quite a few of them changed both popular music and the genres to which they belonged.

yeah, its definitely still not a "best" or "greatest" list - but calling that a definitive collection isn't any better. In my exerpt I alternated bad/good to really show off how stupid it is.
