  • Should I be nervous about this ebay win?

Last night I won a 5200+ for £102 on ebay. A good deal considering they are ~£145 normally. Too good?

I emailed earlier in the day asking about delivery charges as they aren't mentioned and got no reply. The invoice doesn't ask for delivery costs.

He had two for sale, I bid on the 2nd one as I was out for the first. Both received one other bid of £100, the other one won at £100.

Anyway, the item number is 160096102763 if anyone fancies taking a look?

    Cheers,

    Tony.

His feedback rating seems okay, if this isn't someone's hijacked account. If he's selling a ton of these he might be a little slow getting back to you.

Assuming it's on the up-and-up, you got a hell of a deal.

      Check this out:

      "Buyer protection on eBay"

This item is covered up to $200 See eligibility

      13. Disputes between Buyers and Sellers - Buyer Protection Programs.
13.1 Buyer Protection Programs. If you buy an item using PayPal and either do not receive the item or receive an item that you believe is Significantly Not as Described by the seller, we encourage you to open a Dispute with the seller in our Resolution Center. By doing so, you will initiate our Online Dispute Resolution Process—a step-by-step system designed to facilitate communication between you and the seller in order to get resolution of the issue. If your dialogue with the seller fails to produce a satisfactory result, you can then escalate the Dispute into a Claim that we will evaluate for reimbursement under one of the following programs:

PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy - Our best efforts program to reimburse Users for losses only to the extent we are able to recover the funds from sellers.
PayPal Buyer Protection Policy - Our program to reimburse Users for losses for up to (i) $2,000.00 USD (Top Tier Converage Amount) for eligible items purchased on eBay and (ii) up to $200.00 USD (Basic Tier Coverage Amount) for all other eligible items purchased on eBay. Please see section 13.9 to determine whether Top Tier Coverage Amount or Basic Tier Coverage Amount applies.
Buyer Protection for eBay Express - Our program to reimburse Users for the full amount of losses for items purchased on eBay Express.
Extended Buyer Protection with PayPal Credit - Our program to reimburse Users for the full amount of losses for items purchased using the PayPal Plus Credit Card or PayPal Buyer Credit.

These programs only cover payments for tangible, physical goods. All other payments, such as payments for intangibles, services, airline flight tickets, or licenses and other access to digital content are not covered by any Buyer Protection Program that we offer (but may be covered by Chargeback rights).

PayPal is the safer, easier way to pay online without revealing your credit card number.

I know I'm protected, and I guess I can afford to be without £102 for a while if it does go pear shape.

I've just paid by Paypal, using my Credit Card rather than the usual Debit Card - hopefully one of them will cover it!

What makes me nervous is that almost no one else bid on what are usually hot items, that he didn't respond about shipping costs (he's not a high-volume seller) and that he now has more of them on.

I would almost say I hope he has a batch that fell off a lorry...

Edit: Thanks for looking. I'll keep you posted. If it turns up I'll be looking for mobo and gfx, as previously discussed.

Well I just got this, 10 days after paying, and chasing a couple of days ago:
          Hi!
Thank you for you swift payment. Unfortunately I adviced you to use a PayPal. Money was received in a good order, but the same day after their arrival into my PayPal account it was suspended without any reason to do so (to collect additional information ???!!!). I am sick and tired to bottle with this dodgy online payment system. I was trying to complete all steps required ASAP, but at some point they needed to send me a letter with some sequirity information. STILL WAITING, !!! Complete idiots they are, they just do what they want. They do not give you any explanation! Tryed to refund - but that option is not available while account is supended either. The only way out if you declare this goods as undelivered and request refund - they must refund it because you covered by 500£ insurance cover. I am advising you to do so and when money claimed back you can use other method of payment if you will wish to do so...
Sorry, I cannot release goods untill will get money in hands.Regards
Hmm. Seems genuine enough, but I had a feeling this would go wrong. Can Paypal really stop him accessing his funds?

Claiming their Paypal account is closed and asking for another payment method is a favorite tactic of scammers. Requesting a refund from Paypal is a good idea, but be very careful about the alternate payment method you use. If he asks for a Western Union Money-gram, RUN.

I did wonder if there might be a follow up, requesting alternative payment.

I'm running. No chance I'm going back there.

Besides, I have my eye on a E6600 from a very reputable seller

                An yes, I've already asked.
