60 years ago Jackie Robinson broke major league baseballs "color barrier", becoming its first black player and one of the best players ever. Later his number, 42, was retired by all teams in his honor.
When Jackie Robinson met Dr. Martin Luther King he was informed that he influenced a young Dr. King to also make a difference. I'm told by my black friends that Dr. King was one of many so influenced in a positive manner.
Today each team will re-activate #42 for one game in honor of Jackie Robinson. One player on each MLB team will be chosen to wear it for the anniversary games.
Thumbs way up for a true American hero.
