    Good old John C, always up to something

    The below video is of his Armadillo Aerospace "Pixel", his entry in the Northrop Grumman Lunar Lander Challenge. LLC is funded by NASA's Centennial Challenges program and run during each years X-PRIZE Cup.

    The goal is to take off, hover, climb, translate horizontally a specified distance to another pad, hover, descend, hover and land then repeat in the opposite direction in a 150 minute time period. Top prize will be $1 million and the possibility of their design being used.

    Looks like he has the basics licked.

    wow way cool and extremely stable, now we need a version of it that looks like an X-wing with a bit more thrusters

        Good for John, for doing something creative with his money.

          Previously more often, but now just about once a month John Carmack, posts a detailed update of what's going on at Armadillo Aerospace. I've been reading it regularly, ever since a post by K6-III pointed me in that direction.
