I have always distrusted that stuff. You can taste it is bad. That simple. No diet soda's in this house (and not a lot of soda anyway).

The headache is probably the caffeine withdrawal. My wife used to
drink diet coke (now she drinks caffeine free diet coke). And she
had headaches when she switched for a little while. Now, if she has
a coke at a restaurant (she drinks diet at home but can't stand it from
the fountain in the restaurants) she gets a caffeine buzz (heart races,
buzzy feeling, etc.).

Don't think so, caffeine withdrawal is never a problem for me. I'll have 2 or 3 1/2 liter cops of coffee at work, weekend comes in and I'm coffee free until Monday again.... .
It has something to do with the artificial sweetener.
