  • I want to blow my trumpet!!!

    Dear Mr. Ellis,

Congratulations! The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) is
pleased to inform you that you have been selected to receive the 2007
Best-of-the-Best Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award. The Award is
being presented in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the signing of
the Montreal Protocol, and distinguishes the highest caliber recipients
from over 500 individuals, organizations and teams who have earned
annual Stratospheric Ozone Protection awards from 1990 to 2007. The
Best-of-the-Best Award nominees were evaluated by US EPA staff and
judged by an international panel representing industry, government, and
non-governmental organizations. US EPA officials made the final
selection of award winners. We are looking forward to your
participation in the award ceremony dinner to be held on 19 September
2007 in Montréal, Canada (see details below).

    ...

Again, congratulations on your achievement. We look forward to seeing
you in Montréal on September 19th to celebrate the 20th anniversary of
the Montreal Protocol and your fantastic achievements in protecting the
    ozone layer!

    Best regards,

    -- Dave

Actually, I'm beginning to feel quite humbled, as I've just seen the names of the fellow-awardees which include the ex-Executive Director of UNEP, the ex-SG of the UNEP ozone secretariat, the Director of the ozone division of the US EPA, the White House Presidential adviser on environmental matters, the Chair of the UNEP Scientific Assessment Panel, the Chair of the UNEP Technical and Economic Assessment Panel, Director of the Indian Institute of Technology, the Faculty Director of the Institute of Environment at the University of Denver, amongst others. 31 individuals have been selected out of over 500 nominations.

I've got a few old cans of "Glade" air freshener I could empty outside, if you'd like.

My sister-in-law just upgraded her car's air conditioner refrigerant from R12 to R22. She had to, really, because the R12 had leaked out.

                      Congratulations!

"Blowing your own trumpet" is something you would see in a weird pr0n vid.

you mean "tooting your own horn".
