He wouldn't get 10 minutes into Alien before completely losing it.

Saw it on Saturday and I loved it. Surprisingly - at least to me - was that Trina actually wanted to see it.

Yeah, it could have used some more character development on the part of the Decepticons (the Autobots they did ok on), but I thought it was an excellent blend of humans and robots. The level of detail and articulation on the Transformers was astounding, though the fight scenes could get a bit jumbled at times with how their (exo)skeletons were structured.

There wasn't much I didn't like and I honestly couldn't say what the things I didn't like were, save for all the Decepticons being wiped out at the end (always hate that with movies based on series - TV or comic). A second viewing would definitely be needed to start nit-picking about it.

Loved all the subtle and not so subtle references to the previous incarnations. Dillan picked-up on most of them, but he got all jumpy when Optimus did the "One shall stand, one shall fall" line from the animated movie.

In a credits interlude Starscream was flying into space, no doubt to get other decepticons for the sequel. Remember that he is a treacherous double-crossing SOB who, given their history, just might have let Megatron be "killed" so he can take over. Something similar happened in "The Transformers: The Movie".

Who knows? We might even see Galvatron (Megatron rebuilt by Unicron) in the sequel with Unicron being the main antagonist..

It's also possible that Scorponok and Barricade survived.

Ah damn, missed that. Knew I should have stayed longer. You're right though about Scorponok and Barricade. Of course we all know that destroyed and scuttled to the depths certainly doesn't mean gone forever.

Not sure I'd want to see Unicron in an immediate sequel. Just on the level that I'd rather see a film that further delves into the Transformers' characters. Then again, beyond a prequel taking place on Cybertron or something, there's not much they could do beyond introducing Unicron that wouldn't feel like "just a bunch of robots" fighting.

Logan still hasn't seen the animated movie. I'm not sure he's ready to see Optimus Prime get killed.

Scorponok did, absolutely. He dove underground before they could finish him off.

Not sure about Barricade, but the tank (Brawl? Devastator?) and Bonecrusher definitely were all set.

Oh, in case anyone missed it - I got over my wibbling and just took Logan to see it at the drive-in. Other than the lateness of the hour, he was fine - and LOVED it.

Your next mission is to rent the animated movie for him.

If he gets upset about Prime dying, just let him know that he gets brought back to life in the TV series that takes place after the movie.

This is the part where I go all sheepish and admit to owning not one, but TWO copies of the animated movie on DVD.

Hehe, just own one myself. I figure I make up for it with the anniversary Optimus and all the alternator editions.

I have the original DVD release. I will eventually get the remastered one. My friend, he and I used to be Transformer fanatics, loved the new movie. All these good reviews give me hope that Michael Bay didn't f this one up.

                          Gurm,

Don't feel bad. Not only do I have both version of the animated movie on DVD, but I have all
4 seasons of the series on DVD as well. Not THAT screams therapy

My 4.5 yr old twins are bugging us NON STOP about it. And about the original movie. And
anything Transformers related. I keep on telling them they are not old enough yet.

BTW: Your in MA, Right? What drive-in did you go to?

                          - Mike

Just my opinion, but this is one of a very few cartoon to live-action transitions that actually didn't suck. Could it have been better? Certainly, and I think there's a chance any sequel will be.

As I hinted at before, the wife turned out to be quite the closet Transformers fan - no wonder she had no problem getting me that anniversary Optimus and all those alternators - and she loved it.
