I've had PC with a bit too weak (250W on AthlonXP Palomino)/not very good quality PSU...I think it was partly responsible for killing one HDD and overall instability (but...Via KT133A)
And not sure how this one counts: I fried mobo & CPU while plugging in audio cable (integrated sound on mobo) connected to the audio set on the other side of the room (everything was on)
But overall I didn't notice any problems due to bad power itself in places I live...and I even run for a year (perhaps two) without grounding.
edit: but now I have good quality PSU. Oh, and I totally ignore thunderstorms
