Certainly not the first actor I would have expected. That said, I'm not a 'hater' of said person and suspect that he might do a perfectly reasonable job.

When he is put in the right role, he does an awesome job. When he is put in the wrong role he sticks out like a sore thumb. I am not so sure about this one. /me crosses fingers.

The original The Day the Earth Stood Still is one of my all-time favorites - I hope they do a good job.
