        Actually, if it is about safety then AZ's idea seems much more sensible to me.

        Another way to impress your audience might be to get a paint ball gun and ask for volunteers to get shot with it from 30mtrs. The image of a car dropping fro 1 cm, to me, just does not hit home. Crushing a water melon first as a graphical presentation and than the actual illustrative pain from a gun will leave a bigger impressions which is important if you're aim is a change in behaviour (which I think you are).

            We do want pictures or a movie of the live demonstrations (which means: "make it as painfull as you can just get away with!").
