  • More Movie Reviews!

Ok, since people were posting, and I've seen some stuff lately...

Harry Pothead and the Loyal Brotherhood of the Fiery Bird:

Eh, neither my favorite Harry Potter book, nor my favorite Harry Potter movie. It was long, it felt long, but hey it was HARRY POTTER! YAAAYAYYYYYY!!! CHEEEERRR!

Uh... no seriously, they left out so much and could have done the story much more justice with an additional, oh say FIVE MINUTES. But still good.

    Bourne Ultimatum:

So, it has NOTHING to do with the books. But it was awesome.

Plusses: MUCH LESS SHAKY CAM. Better story than the second one. Better action than the second one. The CIA woman is much more believable as a "good guy" than as a "bad guy". And Julie Stiles is much less stilted this time around.

Minuses: Nobody thought to f***ing FIRE GREENGRASS. So there was still shaky-cam, and the action still had too damn many cuts. *sigh* Plus, it bore absolutely no resemblance to anything Ludlum ever wrote.

    Knocked Up:

Longest comedy I've ever seen, period. And you don't notice that 2.5 hours have elapsed. It's funny all the way through. And DEAR GOD is Katherine Heigl hot. But seriously, it's very believable.

Bonus points for including the guy who played Egon in Ghostbusters!

    Stardust:

Ok, I loved this movie. But then again I loved the book. I can see why it has mixed reviews - it's hard to follow if you're not in "fairy tale" mode. But oh, c'mon... let's see...

Michelle Pfeiffer is an awesome villainess, gets to camp it up and we get a tantalizing glimpse of relatively perfect backside. *cough*

Robert DeNiro... is THE BEST gay hairdressing crossdressing singing dancing pirate EVER. I mean it. Seriously. His 15 minutes alone makes the entire movie worthwhile.

Peter O'Toole is of course excellent, but seriously so is the entire cast. I could even tolerate Claire Danes for the first time ever.

I just loved this film! But I do understand that it jumps around a lot. There's an awful lot of "and then THIS happened. And then THIS happened!"
The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

I personally thought this Bourne outing to be the best of the three.
Non-stop action...I haven't read the books, i'm a Stephen King and Clive Barker reader myself, although I may have to branch out since I need another book to read on the train, and I so enjoyed the Fourth Protocol, I may hack through the Bourne Trilogy...

I also think the this Harry Potter is quite good, not exceptional, but good.
Good for Kids too (School is Good/Fun).

Knocked Up : At first, i thought it was going to be sh*t. By the end of the film, I thought it was brilliant. Very well done, and very well acted.
Funny where funny needs, and serious where its needed. Great Film.

One of my own: SuperBad (No1 in the US atm)
Crap. The only bit I enjoyed, was the kid with the Cops. The rest was just Bad.

Can't fathom how it bested The Bourne Ultimatum at the box office...

edit : Egon was Harold Ramis.

The wife and I watched this as part of our anniversary date and we both loved it. DeNiro really did steal the show...ARR!

Our favorite part was where he starts to cut Tristran's hair, and it looks terrible, and then all of a sudden he has LONG LUSTROUS SEXY HAIR out of nowhere and he's like "wow you're a really good hairdresser!"
