I've come to the conclusion that It's easier to use my whole brain and decided to stick with that ;p
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

            I can do that too!
Actually, it's quite easy for me when I look at her shadow.

              Brilliant

I had to look at it with Wifey to be sure it wasn't a fix. I'm mostly left-brained and she's the opposite. No surprises there. I can change the direction by briefly obscuring part of the image.

Both. Just reading the text, and looking back it changed direction...

                Haven't tried 'thinking' the direction.
                Will give it a try

edit : both ways still, except it changed direction almost every half revolution, which got very confusing, so i quickly stopped.

Same here. After a while I don't need the shadow anymore, I can see it rotate the way I want it to.

A colleague of mine who is interested in these things professionally has this to say:

This appeared on the Telegraph's web site a while ago, but it's impossible to find any source or evdience that what it claims to measure is true. (I don't see why, offhand.) But it's a fun image, for sure.

                      nope.

K so, took me about 10 minutes in adoble image ready, but i managed to see her spinning counter clockwise as well. I have always been VERY right handed. (its a pain for guitar, my left hand is a useless gimp-like POS compared to my right). As of right now when I go to the full speed of the gif it still reverts to CW immediately, but just clicking on 'next frame' at a rate of about 2-3 fps I can see it go CCW.

She has to be stopped for me to switch directions, and I have to focus and keep telling myself "right leg is pivot, right leg is pivot."

My brother though, who has always been ambidextrous with a slight perference for his left hand immediately saw it going CCW. Then when he looked away was able to see it going CW.

I think people sort of have different splits of handedness (ie my brother is 60/40 L/R, and I am 1/99 L/R )

I can maintain CCW for a few frames at a time at full speed but she keeps switching!! This is one of the hardest things I have ever done.

edit: scratch that - I can make her switch back and forth now.

Took a lot of training myself but I did it.

edit: yeah I can make her switch pretty easily back and forth now, and at full speed. It's slightly hard to make her go from CW to CCW, but I can still do it. And she always starts off as CW.

I finally managed to see her spinning CCW, but still can't switch easily.

The "what it measures" is bullsh!t. But it's just an optical illusion. Most people see it clockwise at first, which of course is contrary to what the site claims, right? *shrug*

I can make it change, but it's an illusion. It's spinning clockwise.
