    That makes no sense.
The US has gotten pretty clean chemical-wise over the last 50 years at the exact same time that it's output of green house gases has gone way up.

      That's right.

It doesn't make sense to talk about the one without the other. You tell me, what difference does it make if it's flowing in your blood, and not in the air you breed?

If anybody ever deserved this prize then its Al Gore. period.
He brought the green house effect crises to the world's agenda like nobody before.
The man is a true hero in my book. following this one issue, the entire climate in the business world shifted towards green technology. Green is cool. now I know that using the words cool and Gore in the same post is an oxymoron, but that's the way I see things. evidently I am not the only one

After Yasser Arafat got the Nobel "Peace Prize", I'm still waiting for Bin Laden to get his.
This prize was a joke, it's not funny anymore, just.. pathetic.

So because Gore twisted and distorted facts in his movie and throughout his agenda, it makes it ok to award him the peace prize because he brought the issue to the forefront?

              Which fact would those be?
most scientists embrace his positions wholeheartedly. Some politicians nurture scientist which disagree with the mainstream view regarding CO2 emissions, but you should be advised that their body of work is ripe with political influences.
The rate of glaciers meltdown is precise. The increasing ferocity of hurricanes is also a fact.
This data can't be disregarded. It is here. The only thing his opposition is left with is producing alternative theories to the grim state of the earth. Discredit scientist who support the view that the reason of global heating is the CO2 emission.
For argument's sake, lets say that its a 50/50 split; If 50% of the scientist concluded that the world might be rendered not liveable for humans in a few decades sounds pretty alarming to me.
What if they are spot on with their research? is that a risk you feel you want to take?

You Americans need to wake up and see whats happening to the climate before we all go the way of the Dodo.

The fact that Gore twisted and distorted facts in his movie makes me think that whatever he did, it was for the money or the limelight, not for the real cause.

Did he get more attention than an ordinary person? Yes he did. After all he was a in the presidential race. And I’ll always remember him for those 3 Purple Hearts and Jib Jab original take on it.

Does he deserve the prize? I don’t thinks so. But I think Greenpeace does!

IMO, anyone getting the Noble Peace Prize, should work for it, really hard. Like Mother Teresa did… .

Again... what facts? unless you are able to back your acusations with a single example, I can only regard them some smear campaign nonsense.

                      OK, you’re right. I apologize.
                      I shouldn’t call it facts. It’s not what I’m after here….. .

I still think that he just got hired to do a job and the prize should have gone to the whole organization, not him.

The only thing he deserves credit for is ………. creating the internet (if I remember properly. TGIF, it was a long week…).

He is not going to spend it on hookers and blow you know ...
This prize is a tool to further push global warming into the collective conciousness.

Plus ... I get the feeling that you have a problem with the man, regardless of the topic at hand

Are you conflating Gore and Kerry?

Darn, I've forgotten about this one:
