Hundreds of protesters brandishing swords and sticks gathered outside Khartoum's presidential palace Friday to vent their anger against a British teacher jailed for allowing children to name a teddy bear "Mohammed."

The reality of the situation is twofold;

1. we have a teacher who should have known better since she did volunteer to work in a reactionary society. Naming a kid Mohammad honors him, but naming an object Mohammad is blasphemy under Sharia Law. No study.

2. the government of Sudan has been passing pamphlets to stir things up. IMO they're obviously using this situation as a ploy to distract the world from Darfur, which is a Sudanese provinice. Call it leverage against the UN peacekeepers if you will.

"NOW" in America is wild and crazed over this.

I listened to a spokesperson for NOW and she claimed that the freedom that American women have and enjoy must be enforced in the middle east. Huh?
She just doesn't get it yet about Islam and women. "Women are the root of all evil", according to the Koran, not money.
Money is good as we all know.

She complained bitterly about Islamic countries backward policies toward women. She, however, said nothing about the muslim woman rape victim who was jailed for 6 months for prostitution recently.
This woman was in the back seat with a married man having sex partially unclothed. They were soon discovered by 6 other men, who were innocent of taking her elsewhere and gang raping her, for she was unclothed and therefore a prostitute, according to Islamic law.

NOW just doesn't get it that there is no hope of changing Islam to be friendly toward women or gays. Islam is just 100% against our constitution and bill of rights.

I wonder how long it will be before female democrats like Pelosi and Hillary finally wake up about Islam and quit embracing it as a wonderful addition to our multi cultural heritage? Our local newpapers are forever praising Islam's attempt to expand their mosques, but nary a word about the treatment of women. Do women think that Islam's subjugation of women does not exist?

I ment leave these countries to their own devices, without help from the west, and let them go through their own middle ages. Eventually they will come around and when on reasonable terms, we can talk. I am not saying we should not help her get out of there.

Maybe do a star trek prime directive of leave them be until they offer gender equality and educate their masses with more than religious nonsense
