Elderly woman jailed after fast-food confrontation
CLEARWATER - A grandmother of eight wanted fries and a cup of coffee, but she got handcuffs instead.
Clearwater police arrested 75-year-old Jean Merola at the drive-thru window of a McDonald's. She was waiting for her food, when an officer asked her to move her car.
Merola says she parked where employees told her to wait. Police say she refused to pull forward, so the officer took her to jail and charged her with disorderly conduct.
She was released about an hour and a half later on her own recognizance.
