    Shaq to Suns
"The trade that would send Shaquille O'Neal to Phoenix is all but done, pending final approval from Suns' management and the NBA, reports ESPN."
Phaneuf signs huge contract with the Flames
Overpaid (slightly) IMO, he's a bit of a defensive liability if you ask me.
"The Calgary Flames announced Wednesday that the club has signed defenceman Dion Phaneuf to a six-year contract extension.

Sources tell TSN that the deal will average $6.5 million US a season. Phaneuf will make $7.5 million in the first year, followed by $6.5 million in year two, $7 million in the third season, $6.5 million in each of the following two years and $5.5 million in the final season."
    Forsberg Rejects offers
The Foppa sweepstakes has taken a few more turns this week, as Peter Forsberg's camp has reportedly turned down a handful of NHL teams that have expressed interest in him.

The Nashville Predators are officially out of the running, as the Tennessean reported Wednesday that general manager David Poile said that Forsberg had passed on a deal with the team.

Forsberg finished the season with Nashville last year after being acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Dallas Stars are also out of the running. Co-general manager Les Jackson said Tuesday that he spoke with Forsberg's representatives Friday.

"They called back (on Saturday) and said he was going to pursue other options," Jackson told The Dallas Morning News. "I think we made a good effort, but now we move on."

Reports out of Detroit say Forsberg has also turned down the Red Wings while the San Jose Sharks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Calgary Flames have also been told that he won't be playing for their teams.

The Philadelphia Flyers and Colorado Avalanche are frontrunners for Forsberg's services, while the Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks remain in the hunt.
I'm thinking he won't go to Vancouver, unless he really wants to buddy up with the Sedins. Vancouver isn't even in a playoff spot right now. If he really wants to win a cup, I'd say Anaheim or Ottawa are the most likely, if he wants to play with an old team, then Philly or Colorado.

Toronto Maples Leafs lost 8-0 to Florida. Toskala went 11/15 before being pulled, then Raycroft went 7/11. They are both quality goaltenders. IMO goaltending should be their strongest aspect. When Darcy Tucker is wearing an "A" you know something is wrong. Get rid of Tucker, get rid of your overpaid sh*tty defence, trade Sundin for A LOT of picks or some prospects.

Maybe Forsberg is just waiting for THE team to make an offer. Montreal maybe? Who knows. But if he wants a Stanley cup, he should have signed on with Detroit.

I think he'll be going to Philly since he his fiance is there.

I think the Leafs need a few years to rebuild. Most players are way over payed, they have a NT clause in their contract, and according to a sports radio station here, Sundin would be the only one who would think about waiving it where as the others want to stay in TO.

I heard that Sundin wanted to stay in TO even if there wasn't any chance of winning the cup.

Anywho, if Forsberg's fiancé is in Philly, I'd be led to believe that that's where he's goin gto end up. Forget which team he was with last though.

Any thoughts on tonight's game? More specifically Mtl VS TO and Ott VS FL? If MTl Wins and Ott loses, Mtl will be first in their division and 3rd overall!

The habs should take it tonite and the sens take another loss and with the way the habs are going, we might even take 2nd overall.

We are in the top 5 for most blocked shots, most hits, most power play goals, least power play goals, goals for/goals against ratio, and one of the fastest skating team and fastest passing team in the league.

Unless the sens can pull off a miracle with the whole Emery problem, I see them slipping to 4th in our division.

Sens need a #1 goalie which Gerber is not and Emery was.

Even with their big line healthy, they won't get far with a mediocre goalie and a loud mouth schmuck sitting beside you on the bench.

@Haig: Turns out it was the other way around! I figured that TO wouldn't go down without a fight, except that Mtl didn't put up much of a fight. As for the Sens, didn't watch the game but was hoping for a loss, even though Heatly was back in formation.

Hey no picking on my Sens!!!!
But look out, the team is almost healthy and if they start to play defense again they are a hard team to beat.
Amazing what a difference a year makes.

Sens in the East, Wings and Ducks in the West look like safe bets again this year.
