This is nothing but misinformation regarding the disabled software. Similar issues occurred with XPSP2.

Microsoft notified all of those vendors ahead of time what to expect, and even provided technial support to support the changes made in SP1 (which were mostly clarifications of what already was laid down previously).

Now, I will say this: Microsoft is screwing the pooch with how they handled their SP1 rollout... it's more like a train running off a cliff than a rollout.

It is plain to see they were not ready to roll SP1, but did anyway. XP is a far more stable product.
