Director J.J. Abrams wrapped principal photography on the new Star Trek movie March 27th, 2008.
Release: May, 2009 (moved from Christmas '08 to take advantage of "blockbuster season")
TrekMovie.com is reporting that co-writer Roberto Orci said the production beat producer Damon Lindelof's proposed end date of mid-April because "we always add a few weeks for the studio, just in case. This is a lesson we learned from Scotty…this way we can appear like miracle workers."
Of course, some second unit shoots will take place without Abrams and the main cast, and J.J. says he'll likely do some pick-up shoots later if they find any specific angles missing as they edit the film.
Meanwhile, congratulations to Abrams and the crew for completing main-unit filming Scotty-style
