  • YouTube woes

Recently, YouTube forced me to update the Flash decoder, since which time downloading any video has been painfully slow (for every sec of video, count 10-15 secs downloading). Has anyone else experienced this?

      dunno about the download speed
however, there was a huge, and i mean huge secuirty problem with flash. pretty much a mandatory update.
      hence the update anyway

New Flash versions inevitably suck for a while, and then SUDDENLY get better. I'm really at a loss to explain it. I don't THINK they sneakily install a service pack when you aren't looking, so I suspect it to be some kind of provider-side optimization.

But every flash version for 2 years now has sucked more than the one before it... for a while. And then it just seems to work. Until the next version.

Perhaps someone can explain it, but not I.

Not too long ago youtube wouldn't play at all for me. I had to completely uninstall flash and then reinstall it to get it to work, and even then it was a bit iffy for a while.

I can only play 4 seconds at a time in any flash based video player in Firefox.. works fine in IE
.. I suspect the Xilinx ISE package somehow messed with it, as it was working before it was installed
