Scott Kalitta, champion drag racer, killed

Scott Kalittal, 46, was killed Saturday at the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals being held at the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in New Jersey. His engine exploded at 300 mph and the car crashed into a sand trap. Scotts father was legendary drag racer Conrad "Connie" Kalitta.

Connie Kalitta is also known as the mentor/sometimes boyfriend of another legendary drag racer: 3-time NHRA Top Fuel Champion Shirley "Cha-Cha" Muldowney, whose life was made into the film "Heart Like A Wheel".

Bummer.
Seen all the aboved mentioned race IRL, all are true sportsmen/women.

At least he went the way he would have wanted, on the track.
