Alexander Downer has been appointed UN Secretary-General's special envoy to Cyprus.
He is retiring from Australian politics to take up the position.
But the guy is a moron, he actually has postgraduate qualifications in diplomacy so should know how to be "diplomatic".

He quite regularly offends people we his rampant stupidity, one incident that always sticks in my mind addressing a discussion on domestic abuse he made a stupid joke about "the things that batter". (the were quite a few victims of the abuse in the audience)
